To what degree did Kahn pick the songs played in JGB? I read somewhere it was more a case of Jerry turning up and playing what Kahn had picked out. Am I way off?

If memory serves me right,I'd heard that early on Jerry & John would come up with songs to play while hanging out and getting high, not my words,Jerry's from an interview way back.Just listening to records and tapes. In the later years, Jerry had said that Kahn would find a song, work up an arrangement then bring it to rehearsals. If it worked, they'd do it.But with all the cover tunes or any song that matter,Jerry always said that a song had to appeal to him someway.Emotional or whatever the song had to touch him inside someway, somehow.
Arrangements would change thru out the years but they did work with a setlist.More like 3-4 different setlists that would get rotated around. At the end the list rotation was really down to 2.Sad because there was alot of JGB material thru out the years that should have been in the later versions.Okay "Someday Baby" came back in the last few years and was welcome, there was a treasure that was left untouched.

What I know for sure he picked were all the tunes on Jerry's second solo album, the one that came out in '74. Had "When the Hunter Gets Capturd By the Game," "Mississippi Moon," etc. on it.

Agree absolutely, the most interesitng solo album. No originals but he sure could take something from somebody else and make it his own.
